The Weekend of the Second Sunday after the Epiphany:
January 26, 2025
The Dean's List
Annual Meeting Review.
Thank you so much to everyone who agreed to be nominated for a leadership position or presented on the work of the parish at last Sunday's Annual Meeting. The level of participation and commitment is, in and of itself, a good and hopeful sign.
The PowerPoint slides went by very quickly in some cases, so in case you missed them, here they are, along with copies of the 2024 Year-End Income & Expense Statement and 2025 Budget

Elections
Eric McManus was elected to a two-year term as Junior Warden;
Patty Hans, Andy Helfrich, Cindy Laney, and Erica Vitale were elected to two-year terms on the Cathedral Chapter;
Tamisyn Grantz and Jane Hunter were elected to one-year terms as delegates to Diocesan Convention, with Jack Laney elected as an alternate delegate.
Gather & Grow Phase II Committees
The Gather & Grow initiative continues with the work of three ad-hoc committees:
Landscaping (Rhonda Culbertson, Chair)
Kitchen & Cathedral Hall (Mike McCrea, Chair)
Worship Space (Christopher Hillak, Chair)
Please feel free to reach out to the committee chairs for more information on their work of preparing the Cathedral campus for our ongoing ministry into the future.
On the Horizon
Assuming construction on the elevator addition will be done sometime in the next few months (in time for Easter?) and that a dedication will follow shortly thereafter, there are three other important considerations on the Cathedral calendar in 2025:
1) Story & Song Retreat (March 21-22).
Storytelling is foundational to Christianity and Christian community. Sharing one's own story and hearing other's stories is essential for our sense of welcome and belonging. The Story & Song Friday evening to Saturday evening event, developed with the Cathedral by the team at the heart of the Dove Faith Cafe, offers participants an opportunity to learn about storytelling, share their own story, and receive the stories of others.
2) Special Convention of the Diocese of Northern Indiana (Date TBD).
The two Indiana dioceses of the Episcopal Church will each take up the question of reunification at a special diocesan conventions this fall. The Cathedral of Saint James will host the convention in Northern Indiana. In the meantime, our Convention delegation and clergy will schedule opportunities for continued conversation within the Cathedral community - and perhaps beyond - about reunification.
3) St. Margaret's House in Residence.
Our primary partner in downtown ministry is undertaking a major renovation of their facilities beginning late this fall. Dialogue is already underway about hosting a limited-capacity version of St. Margaret's House at the Cathedral for up to a year. Hosting SMH Monday through Friday each week will require creativity and flexibility on our part, but we are excited to greet this opportunity to help them carry on their amazing work with as little interruption and displacement as possible.
