A Wee Bit Going On
This has been a busier-than-usual week pastorally speaking, so I will forego profundity for the sake of expediency in this column. One vignette I do wish to share, however, happened on Wednesday. Upon my arrival at the office that day, I was greeted by a homeless woman who was seeking assistance with the basic necessities of life. Before I could finish telling her that I wasn't really available until Noon, she was joined by three other women who also sought assistance for personal needs, bus passes, utility bills, and a security deposit. "I am glad to do what I can," I said; "Please come back at Noon." So off they went to St. Margaret's House. Just before Noon, the women returned as promised, although now there were two more of them. I invited them all in, listened to their requests, and set off up the steps to write checks and verification letters (so they can cash them free of charge at Notre Dame Federal Credit Union). Before I reached the second step, one woman said, "Now hold on! We ought to be praying for you right now, too!" And so they did.
Please join me in giving thanks and praying for the well-being of Emma, Taryn, Tre'Voana, Renata, Rhonda, and Tammie, who shone with the light of Christ in that moment.
Blessings,
Brian
