The Dean's List

Holy Week & Easter Schedule
The Church tells the story of Jesus from Advent to Advent each year; from Jesus' coming into this world in the incarnation to his second coming in that eventual someday when time is fulfilled. At the heart of that story is Holy Week, when we remember Jesus' Passion, Death, and Resurrection, through which we see the full measure of God's love and our hope for salvation and redemption. I commend your participation in as many Holy Week services as you can possibly manage to walk the Way of the Cross with Jesus.

Of particular note this year:

  1. We will once again join our friends from St. Patrick & St. Hedwig's parish on Palm Sunday for the Liturgy of the Palms. We will begin at 10:30 am on the corner of West Washington and South Taylor Streets, weather permitting. For those who cannot make the walk, please gather at the Cathedral and we'll be along shortly.

  2. As has been our practice over the past several years, we will join with other local Episcopal churches for a shared Easter Vigil. The Vigil will be hosted by Trinity Church, Niles. It will begin at 9 pm on Saturday, April 8. Trinity Church was chosen because they have - by anyone's recollection - never held an Easter vigil before.

Confirm, Not Conform
It has been an extraordinary joy and privilege to meet with two groups of people since last fall as part of our confirmation preparation process. Our Confirm, Not Conform (Youth) cohort includes
Lauren Chapman, Abby Gray, Ainsley Gray, Anne Gray, Sophia Helfrich, Freddy Kalleberg, Abby McManus, Aidan McManus, Aley Vitale-Richards, and Dominic Vitale-Richards. The adult group includes Danny Armounfelder, Matthew Diehl, Katie Gotfried, Amanda Helfrich, Andy Helfrich, Jon Lanari, Eric McManus, Chau-ly Phan, and Hannah Resnick. Please keep all of these wonderful people in your prayers as our time together winds down.

The CnC Youth group will soon go on a short pilgrimage that includes an afternoon at Plainsong Farm in Michigan, then a day in Chicago spent visiting Grace Church in the Loop, going on a food tour of Chinatown, then an afternoon at the Art Institute of Chicago.

Baptism
Jack Laney, a young man who attends our 10:30 Sunday service with his mother, Cindy, will be baptized on Easter Sunday. We are delighted to receive him into the household of God.

Blessings,
Brian

Exploring Benedictine Spirituality: Daily Rhythms and Communal Life

This Sunday, we will delve into the key elements of Benedictine spirituality through a study of selected chapters from the Rule of St. Benedict. We will explore the themes of work, silence, service, and care, and how they shape the daily rhythms and communal life of Benedictine monks.

Through a combination of readings, discussions, and reflective exercises, this program offers an opportunity to deepen our understanding of Benedictine spirituality and explore how it can inform our own spiritual journeys.
