The Weekend of the Fourth Sunday of Advent
December 22, 2024

The Dean's List

Come Celebrate.
This is a big weekend at the Cathedral of Saint James, with ordinations on Saturday and worship, greening the church, and cookies & caroling on Sunday. After that, we're back next Tuesday and Wednesday to welcome the Holy One at Christmas. Check out the calendar below for a list of service and activity times. Come celebrate the season at the Cathedral of Saint James!

Year-End Financial Stuff.
The Cathedral Finance Team wishes to remind our members and friends of the following things::

  • Please submit any check requests for expenses incurred in 2024 by Friday, December 27; and

  • Please make any contributions you wish to have credited in 2024 by Tuesday, December 31.

Assistant to the Dean for Finance Steven Mast and Treasurer Peg Swadener will be in the Cathedral office on Tuesday, December 31. Thank you!

Holiday Office Hours.
Cathedral offices will be closed on Wednesday, December 25; Thursday, December 26; and Wednesday, January 1. Joe Anand-Obleton and Fr. Mark Hummell will be out of the office from Christmas Day through Thursday, January 2. Other Cathedral staff members will be available by appointment on the following days: Friday, December 27; Tuesday, December 31; and Thursday, January 2.

Christian Formation Holiday Hiatus.
Sunday formation for children, youth, and adults will NOT meet on Sunday, December 22 and Sunday, December 29. Christian formation for all ages will resume on Sunday, January 5.

JT Turns 75!
John Tyler, who is a long-time member of the Cathedral community and a regular at our Friday noon Eucharist, will celebrate his 75th birthday on Friday, December 27. JT is mostly alone in this world, so let's make a fuss, shall we? The plan is to pray for JT at the noon Eucharist that day, then take him out to lunch (our current lunch spot is Grill 362 at the South Bend Firefighters Association, 4025 Lincoln Way W, South Bend). Small gifts are welcome (he objected, but when I told him it would be things like Ben-Gay or Tylenol, he relented) (with a big smile on his face). Let's have a party!

Blessings,
Brian
