Confirm, not Conform Youth Pilgrimage
The Confirm, not Conform Youth class is off this weekend on a pilgrimage-of-sorts to some interesting not-to-far away places. We depart from the Cathedral at 11:30 Friday morning to spend the afternoon at Plainsong Farm, just northeast of Grand Rapids. On our way back, we will stop for pizza at Town Hall Pizza in Berrien Springs, where my friend and former colleague in ministry, Sam Barrington, is the proprietor. Upon returning to South Bend, the girls will head to the Gottfried/McManus house and the boys to the Grantz house for the night.
After an early wake-up call on Saturday morning, we will hop on the 7:24 am South Shore train to Chicago, where we will begin the day with a tour of Grace Place Episcopal Church, an old print shop on printer's row in the loop that was converted to an amazing worship space in the late 1980s. After that, we're off for a cultural immersion in Chinatown with a three-hour food tour. We'll spend a couple of hours at the Art Institute of Chicago where - hopefully - we'll be able to take in at least some of the Dali exhibit before grabbing a quick dinner and heading back to South Bend.
Please pray for those who are going: Abby Gray, Abby McManus, Aidan McManus, Ainsley Gray, Aley Vitale-Richards, Anne Gray, Dom Vitale-Richards, Freddy Kallenberg, Lauren Chapman, and adult leaders Tamisyn & Brian Grantz, Eric McManus, Nan Noecker, and Steven Slaubaugh (Friday only + Eliza & Rey). Please pray also for Sophia Helfrich who is unable to join us due to a schedule conflict.
Guest Preacher
In related news, Steven Slaubaugh will be preaching at both services this coming Sunday :)
Cathedral North Parking Lot Closure
The Cathedral's north parking lot, which we share with St. Margaret's House, will be closed Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15 for sealing and re-striping. Parking is available on the street and in First Presbyterian Church's parking lot across Colfax Street from Central Automotive.
Shortcakes Team Meeting
An organizational meeting for all who are involved or interested in being involved in Shortcakes on the Blacktop will take place this coming Sunday, April 16, at Noon in Cathedral Hall.
Blessings, all.
Brian
Faith Formation
Earth Day, Work Day
This Sunday, April 16 from 9:15 - 10:15 am
Meets Outside in the Butterfly Garden
All ages are invited to join us outside for an Earth Day, Work Day program in the Butterfly Garden! Please dress for light work. Please bring gloves and garden tools, as able (we have a pretty good supply if you aren’t able to bring some). There will be something to do for all ages.
*At the moment, the forecast says there is a 75% chance of rain on Sunday and a high of 66 (it looks like rain may be starting after 11 am). If it's raining lightly, we will proceed as usual (but, you may want to wear a rain jacket!). In case of heavy rain, we will meet in the Conference Room downstairs for a conversation on the Anglican Communion Forest initiative and will color the Alleluia butterflies to display in the South Side garden facing windows.
